This is what I'm working on now. A vintage AMT Edsel convertible. I started with this Ebay find. Got it apart and cleaned the old decals off the body Dusted it with a light coat of primer to see what I had to work with. It looks fairly clean Going to go the mild custom route with it, something like this

Very cool when lowered. It makes the most of that Jetsons madness that was the magic (and the downfall) of Edsels. I assume you finds these marvels on eBay. What sort of search parameters do you use?

Thanks B, I usually just narrow my search to "vintage".

That body looks better than fairly clean , it looks in really good condition and the front chrome looks great too ! Personally I think the '60 was a really good looking design .

Bless your heart for buying and now saving a bit of history. That is clearly one of the "originals" of the era. I never could understand why the Edsels of the last decade didn't sell well nor were many finished ones on the web. They were not the prettiest, but as the saying goes, "had possibilities." Maybe more body color over the busy and chromed front end would help. Your choice of mild custom makes great sense, tho I saw a drawing of one as a hot rod with much of the front gone (narrowed drastically) to reveal a fenderless '30s look and as a convertible. We'll be anxious to see what you do with it. thanx!

Got a little more done on the Edsel. I sanded the first coat of primer smoothing everything out. Still some body work to do. Slice off the stock mufflers I made some brake discs from flat washers and calipers from scrap styrene. Getting there! Got the stance and wheels set.

Now that the old Ford is finished I'm picking this Edsel up again to finish it. I got new tail light housings from the 'Haus but I didn't have any lenses. Here's how I made them.

Looking good and was it common to put all the extra parts and decals on the cars back in the early 60s,it seems like everyone I seen had everything glued on them.

Glue was cheap and paint very expensive. Besides, Mom wouldn't allow me to paint in the house:) Nice touch on the lenses.

I had the basement to paint in if I opened the windows but mom did complain about the smell a little.

Thanks for the encouragement guys! KP, not sure of the color yet but I'm seriously thinking of two tone metallic blues.
