In 1:64th. I'm working on this little D-Cast this weekend for fun and a break from other stuff. Being from long Island and growing up during the 60's and 70's I'm no stranger to asphalt modifieds. My home track was a little bull ring called Islip Speedway and my favorite driver was Charlie Jarzombeck. I had this little die cast around so after seeing the decals listed in ebay I decided to convert it to a representation of the famous #1 coupe. after a bath in paint stripper and here's where I am now after a session with files and a sanding stick. Primer and paint to follow. Sadly Charging Charlie Jarzombek was killed in a brutal wreck during the 1987 Miller 200 @ Martinsville Speedway.

Disability and even death seem to hang around speedways ready to claim drivers. I fondly remember the tv show "Wide World Of Sports" covering figure 8 racing from Islip, and demo derby! I recently read the book "The Tender Bar" about life on the working class part of the island back then too. Small scale model doesn't look too bad, considering it's both small and usually made without much attention to accuracy. Good start and thanx for giving us a new aspect of the hobby to think about!

Should be a sharp little model of Charlie's car ! I was always a Ritchie Evans fan when I was growing up but now I love all of them !
