OK this is my first WIP on this site. So bear with me. This started out as AMT's kit. My original plan was a Prewar hotrod with a hopped up 4 banger, no fenders, stock wheels and suspension. A good build starts with a good foundation. I had the front of the frame cut off for a few years, but did little with it. I Zed the frame front and rear. I cut the spring from the axle to get it lower. The blue one on the left is the one I'm going to use. I'm going to run the hopped up Flathead from AMT's 49 Merc kit. If I can get another header from the 4 banger I'll use them with a center pipe scrap built. The will exit below the frame but above the split wishbones. I Channeled the body over the frame by cutting down the Interior. I also cut out the inner fenders out of the body to get the wheels up. Yes, I know the white walls are silver, but that is the way they came out of the parts box. The wheels are yet undecided, as is the grille. I have to build a shifter and transmission tunnel. Wish me luck, on getting this one finished. This is TRaK approved.

Looks like that's gonna be low! Only way to go !!! Yep, I had it started High but it never got me motivated, now, I will get it done. Clay, I want your opinion, Colour? I can't do weathering, I don't have the supplies. Black has been done to death.

I can't do weathering, I don't have the supplies. Black has been done to death. Color is a highly personal choice. What one will love, another will hate. Black may have been done to death, but for a traditional old school hot rod, that was the color that was usually left on. As the hot rod culture evolved. colors were used to have something different and, because again, it was a personal choice. WHATEVER color you use, it has more than likely already been done. I have a small hangup about someone piping up and telling the builder what color he should use or what would be cool. Normally, I don't agree with those suggestions anyway. I don't know what the builder thinks. As for weathering, as a rule, the better the artist, the better the result. Some red oxide primer, brown or black paint, salt/dirt/baking soda for rusty texture, a brushfull of thinner or reducer to smear some of it around. Viola! Look at rusty cars and notice the rust patterns and colors. An old art saying is " you learn to draw by drawing". weathering a model is the same thing. Get an old body and try stuff. You don't need a high dollar 'Weathering Kit'. Or, you could paint it green. I hate plain green on a car

OK, I've come to a point I need some help. I've got to chose the front wheels, I have three options. Option 1: Wire wheel from Lindberg 34 ford truck. Option 2: parts box steel wheel. Option 3: Keystone Mag from AMT's 57 Belair. I will use the Silver Wall slicks in the picture from the first post, after striping the paint and whiting them. They have Torque Thrust style wheels.

If you were depicting an early roots hot rod (black) you could go with wires or steelies or any combination of both. But you're not. So upgrading the wheels would be kinda in with the green paint. if yer running slicks on back, the Mags would go good. Steelies are always a good choice for rods. Bareass, chrome rings, and/or hubcaps. For breakfast, I would suggest the Hot and Hearty man's breakfast from page 1 of my cookbook. Hot and Hearty man's Breakfast Some things may not sound so good mixed together, but in fact, ain't too bad. This is one of them. Don't knock it until you try it. Eaten hot, it tends to clear out your nose also. 2*packets of Quaker Oats instant Raisin, Date and Walnut oatmeal. (2 packets because you are a man, right?) 1 cup of beer. Nuke beer in microwave safe bowl for about 1 minute or until it just starts to boil. Add in packets of oatmeal and stir. You might as well drink the rest of the can of beer. ยง (On the other hand, this sounds like a match made in heaven, but believe me, leftover Beef 'O Bradys teriyaki wings sauce and peanut butter DO NOT go well together)
Continue on to page 2 for my not-so-fanous Windbreaker Casserole.
