Just to get a new post in this spot. I'm still on our old computer so no new foto stuff available, but I'll get one on here ASAP. Was at the Mall cruise-in Friday night and two of the guys had racing valve covers. One of the others had brought a ramp. They do this the first Friday of every month. One of my friends was one of the racers. He holds the trophy. He has skate board wheels (at $16 a pair) and new skateboard bearings (another $25) and an old Ford valve cover. As we were leaving, I asked him if he would like me to flame the cover for him. He was glad to let me do it. When i got home, I'm thinkin maybe I could make one of these up the Geezerman way - no money. Couple of years ago, I picked up a couple of cheap RC jeeps. One was pretty broken, so, I started thinking how I could use those wheels for a Valve Cover Racer. Isn't this a facinating story? I spent all day today out in the carport and managed to get a base, and get the rear wheels cobbled on the board. I'll get fotos as soon as I get my main 'puter up. Y'all can wait breathlessly. I plan to paint mine kinda like the trophy winng paint job I did for my grandsons Pine Box Derby. He had wanted skulls for this year racer. Last year he wanted flames. He got the trophy for that also. To get a picture in this thread for you, here is last years.

Ah yes, it's coming along. I have a rolling chassis now and the cover is in self etching primer awaiting the paint. In this foto, the front wheels aren't affixed yet. Here's the only foto I have of Bradley's '08 pine box racer. Plan to paint the valve cover similar. This was a last second rush job. Hope to have the valve cover a little neater.

Got the black basecoat on and have started the grafix. I used Alclad for the lower part of the teeth that turns into a grille, sort of. I'll give this a coat of clear now so I can work on it without endangering what I have already done.
