Killer Cans Paint Review & Warning

I've been working on this and one other Hudson since January and ran into a real problem with the Killer Cans clear and thought I'd warn anyone who was thinking about using their product..

First off, the Killer Cans paint come with a nozzle that has a very wide spray which in turns leads to a lot of wasted paint, expensive paint! With a 12oz spray can($40 shipped) I was only able to spray 1 1/2 bodies with it until I ran out of the Lightning Clear. One Hudson body I was able to complete but this Hudson Hammer body I only had enough to put the first two mist coats and then a medium coat.

I thought no problem, I'll just order some more and while I'm waiting I'll put the BMF on it. Well, come to find out that they replaced the Lightning Clear with a new and improved Mirror Clear and I even called and talked to the factory Tech guy and he said no problem, the Mirror Clear will be just fine going over the Lightning Clear, so I ordered it. Two weeks later I still had not received it so I called again and they had forgot to ship it and wanted to know if I still needed it. Of course I said yes, I need it now!

So, the body has been sitting in a display case to keep all dust off of it for a little more than 3 weeks so I take the new Mirror Clear and start to spray the body first with one medium coat which looks great and then I hit it with a nice wet coat. I couldn't believe my eyes when everything started to melt.

Here's what it did to my almost one year work on the Hammer.......


SOoooooooooo, after spending over $200 on paint and clear and almost a year building, I would warn everyone not to bother using Killer Can products. They are way too expensive and the results are devastating.

Wow, looks like lacquer over enamel. Major case of incompatibility. Thanks for the heads up. BTW I've never heard of this stuff...who makes it?

The Killer Cans and paint is made by Alsa Corp. Yes, that's exactly what it looks like to me, hotter paint over what was already there.

Ok thanks. I've never seen it here in my part of the world but if I do I'll be sure not to use it.

BTW, here's the other body I did with using just the Lightning Clear before I ran out. Just wanted to make sure that you know I do know how to spray paint and didn't do something wrong.

I spoke too soon on the other Hudson....
About a month ago I had sprayed the color on this one and it was just beautiful...


Then I applied their Killer Chrome and then cleared it a few weeks ago....


Last night I started to polish things up and get it ready for final assemble and & Behold, look what had happened to the clear....


and a closer look under the microscope....


I'm going to try and sand down the clear to get rid of the cracks and I'm going to try a regular clear and see if
that will work, if not, I just may scrap the whole project.

Well, Alsa Corp got back to me and said they would give me another can of clear which to me is totally disrespectful. They said yes, it was a mistake that I was told that the clear was incompatible but the paint was good so they would give me another clear but no paint. What good is clear if you don't have paint? Because of the mistake they made, I lost $240 of paint not mentioning almost a years worth of work on the 2 models.

So, I would strongly suggest not to buy or use any of their Clears and for the price of their paint and lack of responsibility to the customer especially when it's their fault, not to buy anything from them.

Yes, I'm pissed off at them but more to the point that a years worth of work went down the tubes and they could care less. I just want to warn others before they make the same mistake I did.
