Come the end of this year, I will no longer accept paypal payments for models or
club dues nor will I use it for anything....I am closing my account.
I don't take the new IRS law as a personal attack, but I refuse to put myself at
risk of being taxed or violated.
I have used paypal for years and have done everything they asked of me. I have
always avoided giving them my social security number and that's what they want
now or say they will freeze my account or close it and stop all current
transactions in their tracks.
I don't have anything going on right now with paypal. Since the beginning, the
majority of Gold Members and donators of club funds have come through paypal and
that's been the "bank" for DPMCC. I have withdrawn all funds to my bank account
and in just a few days once it's all been cleared...I will close the account.
Further payments for the web site and such will come directly from my checking
account via my debit card.
This is no joke folks. I know good and well I don't qualify as a tax payer
through internet sales....but I will NOT give them my SSN.
Please email me direct to get my current mailing address and ask any questions
you may have. I will not take any other paypal payments.
Acceptable forms for renewal and new members will only be cash, money orders or
personal checks.

I may consider a different online payment system, but it's going to take some
heavy reading and review before I sign up at a site I am unfamiliar with. I am
open to suggestions if you have any. (if you have experience with any that
is....)
Dues always roll around February 2nd each year. The time is not that far off, so
please be aware of this new change.

I have notified others that I won't be using paypal and there is confusion as to where I found out. If you have already provided them with a SSN or tax ID....you won't see this.  |

I want to make it very known and clear, that the date for dues is changing. I don't have an exact date yet.
My wife and I are filing for bankruptcy because of extensive medical bills. Our attorney advised me that even though dues and donations are not being used by me....they are considered income since they have come through my paypal/bank. This club in their eyes is considered an adventure/hobby/business. It's not like I want everyone to know, but I am not going to lie about the reason for this. Life is hard, even harder when the bills pile so high there is no way to get caught up....ever.
In order to avoid further confusion to my personal life, I cannot accept any new members , dues or donations from anyone until sometime in April.
This does not mean the club is closed or anything....it just means NO funds from this club can enter my accounts until we get through this.
I will send a notice once this crap is all over with, so we can get back to normal.
I am sorry for any inconvenience..heck this is probably a relief for you since it's giving you more time hehe! Thanks for your understanding.

Bob i'm sorry to hear about your problems;having spent a couple of years dealing with various issues i can sympathize.Hopefully 2012 is a happy,healthy and more prosperous year for you and your family!Good luck and let me know when to make payment to keep this wonderful site going !

Dues? I didn't know I was supposed to pay something to be here? My forum is free. This forum is FREE. Read www.thedpmcc.com/membership.html If pushing FREE forums is a gimic....I guess all of us who own a forum better get in on it. This is our club's forum and of course, club NEWS is posted here. Everyone is welcome to be here, whether you are a due paying member who supports the web sites or not. |

If you don't mind my saying, the problem is it's called "Muscle Car Journey" and every model under the sun seems to have a place there. If you want to have a muscle car forum, stick to it! Its not easy to turn people away that want to show other subjects....trust me, TRaK is a perfect example.
I don't know if there is another muscle car forum for modelers, but if there isn't....then delete everything that is NOT muscle car from your forum and then tell some muscle car guys about it....if it's built nice and isn't drown out and generalized...I think you could get a small crowd to join. If you keep it the way it is...it's just another "general interest" forum.
