Been feelin like a slacker for not having anything to post These are some of my attempts to cast some wheels/tires for myself. I wanted some big n' littles, so I made a mold of a large fat tire (don't know what it came from exactly) and am cutting down a tire in my Dremel hoping to get it good enough to cast as a 'little'. It's to the left of the 'big' with one of my steelie casts. to the left of that is my kitbashed deep steelie casting. The 'big' tire has a kitbashed deep Halibrand type with a regular shallow Halibrand in front of it. To the right is a set of old mag type. I kitbashed one into a deep style, The mold for these mags is the one that got gunked up by a bad batch of resin. I'll probably have to make a new mold. Not much, but it is what I been doing to keep out of trouble while I'm waiting for some 'professional' wheels to get here for my AA/FA build' If anyone thinks about asking, I'm not in the business. These are alright for me, but surely aren't good enough to be peddling.

I too want to resin cast someday, but I have no clue what to get for doing it Micro Mark sells a starter kit with easy instructions. Basically it's all you need. You just have to cobble some kind of form to hold the rubber mold as you pour it.

Did any of you get ed's advice to me from the DPMCC regular site? Resin WILL go bad (mine did). Has a short shelf life. Needs LOW humidity. I found that out too. In Florida? I just picked up a nice used dehumidifer, and got a new batch of resin from Micro Mark. So, having more molds now, Maybe I can get this resin used up before it goes bad )

Most resins go bad (usually Part B) unless you use a moisture barrier such as Bloxygen Moisture Barrier which is available from the Alumilite Corporation, www.alumilite.com. Hope this helps. Chris.
