I have just read an email from Kirby Hughes, that our fellow friend and club member David Kolar passed away at work September 25th of what appears to be a massive heart attack. David was a Gold member of Drastic Plastics and a very active member of our forum. His models have graced the homepages and he has current projects posted on the forum as well. I have had the pleasure of knowing David since we met in Minnesota at NNL North and that is what ultimately led him and his close friend Kirby to joining our club. They have both been to Omaha for one of our local shows and we had good times together. I am in disbelief. I wish the best to his family and to his friends. I have moved David's models to our lost but not forgotten folder on fotki. You can view his models here. public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/club-storage/friends_gone_but/In memory, a photo with us all together last year. left to right James Rothrock, Chris Lewis, Kirby Hughes, Bob Black, David Kolar and Steve Kohler.

Bob, this is sad news indeed, I heard about this through a post Kirby had elsewhere, as I said there, I like to hear what Dave has to say and love looking at his builds. He will be greatly missed, my thoughts and prayers to all his friends and family... RIP Dave...

The loss of my best friend Dave Kolar yesterday was devistating for me and Daves family! Dave and I became best of friends a few years ago after he joined our local club MCCM (Model car club of Minnesota). For the past few years we did it all togeather...car shows, drag races, model car contests, NNLs and club outings and meetings. We exchanged multiple Emails every day, and always could talk about anything to each other! I will miss Dave like family, because he was the best friend anyone could have! Here is a shot of Dave launching a rocket car he built for our MCCM rocket car day a couple years ago! He was always fun to be around! Dave Kolar at the NNL North 2008 .

I will miss Dave. His quick mastery of new techniques was inspirational . every build he did was an improvement over the last. I am glad he excelled and was recognized for his natural talent. I liked to tease him about how good he was in fact I think that was the last thing I talked to him about right after he won an award at the nnl. Too young.
