over here in the UK, there is an advert for the new Audi R8 Spyder. it depicts a white Audi driving in a large aircraft hanger and surrounded by modified 30's and 40's fords, a 32 ford 3 window hi-boy, a fenderless pop/anglia, a model A and a 32 ford rat rod pick-up. as they are all moving, the pick-up has the word "unloved" painted on the bed. two things, if given the choice i would take a rod over a shiny new car any day. i would also choose a rod billet or rat over a shiny new factory stock for a model subject. what would anyone else choose i wonder? steve

I didn't have to think about that one at all...Old Rods get my vote for sure. That's when cars were cars.

No thought needed on this one. Rods all the way. They have character and personality. The new cars are goofy. A neighbor has a new Mazda.....the front end looks like it has a stupid grin on it.

there was a similar question/discussion on the TRaK a year or so ago. for pure driving experience you will get the most from the R8, no contest. i'm not bashing rods, but most of them if you drive it like you stole it, it's gonna be a short ride.
someone mentioned thier neighbors Mazda. depending on what they have, it may very well blow the doors off a hot rod, even street rod pretty much in all categories with the exception to visual "coolness". there is a little Mazda currently on the market that's pushing 300hp.
