I remember as a kid back in the late 50's and early 60's that the model car kits were never shrink wrapped and you could open any kit to check it out. I was just wondering if any one knows when they actually started shrink wrapping all the car kits? I emailed Revell and they replied saying that it started back in the 40's which is hard to believe just on my own experiences.

Maybe they did in the 40s, but it was not common I don't think. The earliest sealed kit I had was an AMT '67 Ford Galaxie.
