I glued two pieces of card board together then glued poster board to each side.I painted the surface black then I sprayed spatter paint(the kind used in the trunks of classic cars).I painted the white lines then scratched the to make then look worn.I used thinned down satin black for the oil stains and added scale grass around the edge's made the wood fence and stained it and the chain link fence is made with aluminum tubing and window screen then painted silver.

Thanks Guys, it wasn't hard to do but it wasn't cheep.I'm not sure what I spent on it but I think it was around $40.00.It was well worth it,as you can see from most of my posts I use it a lot.

This is really cool! I need to do something similar to this. Using a white background to photograph models gets a little old after awhile. Perhaps I will take an inventory tonight to see what supplies I need, to do something similar.

Perhaps I will take an inventory tonight to see what supplies I need, to do something similar. Having a neat realistic bacground makes for a hell of alot more fun staging your models for fotos. It's even better to have more than 1 for greater variety. Dan also has a 'backyard' dio that he may show. I think one could get close to Dan's concept for less $$ by scrounging around for materials. Geezer's Garage has stripwood from a hobby shop and foamboard from Office Max, but most everything else was just stuff that was laying around or made.

That is a sweet dio. In the future i am planning an asphalt circle track for modern vintage racecars, and this is quite an innovator to get me going. Thanks for sharing with us. Great job!!!!
