At least in my opinion. I forgot all about this, I was going to post these photos nearly two years ago but could not find them. This is a rough idea on using these tires, hope it helps someone. Some of the old kits had these in them, mainly the ones I know of were the Altered Wheel Base kits like the Nova, Oldsmobile, Falcon, Comet, Edsel. Many guys have told me they throw these away. I keep them and use them sometimes. Why? Well...the white plastic is the key to getting clean easy white letters! What I do is put them together and start filing and sanding the seams and the tread. I use a file to put the used look on the tread. Sand the tread in the fashion leaving marks like it was "burned out" at the drags. You can also "round" the edges easily for more realism. These pictures kinda syphon, but what you see here is the treaded area painted with dark gray primer and the sidewall shot straight on with flat black. By doing this, you get a black sidewall with the treaded area looking more "driven" and used. Once you get this far, it's time to rub the letters off. I used an xacto handle with 2000 grit paper wrapped around and carefully rubbed the top of the letters off. That all....that's it! Here is a different one on a '67 Fairlane I rebuilt.

I have a set of those from the rat packer I believe? I used the front ones on the Airoso Bros Willys. I was half contemplating casting them for my own use because they do look nice. Still debating the rear tires? I like your idea of the two toned paint! I will have to try that! Jody
