This is a build that got started because of Cranky's Christmas Contest. I like several others have thrown in the towel on the contest due to the ongoing cluster f**k that it turned into. So, I'll do a quick bring you up to speed on where the build is today.
The first order of business was to get the woody to sit as low as I wanted it. This required the adaptation of the suspension from the Good Guys issue of the Revell '37 Coupe.
For tires and wheels it was decided to use those from the Revell '50 Ford Pickup (the lower set in the photo). The tires are a combination of those from the '50 kit and those from the latest Thunderbird snap-kit.
Next major task for the build was the 'Wood', the panel area of the body is cedar that is used as cigar wrappers. The cedar is aprox .010 in thickness, it is easy to cut to shape and easy to work with.
The ribs and posts of the body were given the wood look using a Minwax Wood Finish Stain Marker #210B Golden Oak. Once this was dry it was dry brushed with Teddy Bear Tan and Coffee Bean acrylic paint from Folkart. The interior was given the same treatment.
The engine for the Woody was originally going to be a decked out Flathead but that gave way to a Chevy 454 with a Street Blower with Fuel Injection. The engine combination came from an AMT '68 El Camino street machine.
The upper portions of the blower will get the ALCLAD chrome treatment.
Here is where the build is as of today, the body color needs to be applied along with some urethane clear over the wood areas. The engine wired, seats painted and installed then on to final assembly.

Stay tuned, more to come soon.
