I was planning on taking a short break from building and try my hand at resin casting but there's so much wait time especially for molds to cure and also I ran out of the mold making material and had to order some, I decided to start another project. Funny cars are something I know absolutely nothing about except for watching them race back in the early 70's so this build will be totally from reference pics and any tips I can get from everyone here. Opened up the box and found that King Kong must have got a hold of it because most of the parts were off the trees and even the 2 side chassis pieces were broken at the roll cage. Should be an easy fix though.

Cool project, I'll be watching. Is this the 1/25 or 1/16 scale kit?

Don't watch too close, this is my 1st Funny Car. It is a 1/16th scale.

Well duhhh, if I would have paid more attention to the title I would have seen what scale it is I guesss thats what I get for getting online to early in the morning LOL. Anyway, good luck with it. I have that kit and the Revell 1/16 Hawaiian Charger funnycar so now I can see how well the kit goes together before I start mine.

As I get started on this build, I'm looking at a lot of reference pics of the chassis and engine and I am confused a little bit about the colors of the engine. About 90% of the 1:1 pics I've seen, most of the engines are not painted at all or they're painted aluminum. The instructions say to paint the block & heads gloss black, the front cover silver and gold and so on. Here's a pic of a 1:1 engine showing that it's not painted at all or very little.

This is going to be a cool build to watch. When i was about 11-13 yrs old, i built the revolution when it first came out. It was a fun kit from what i remember...lol. When it got busted up by a kid, i used the engine, tires/wheels for a 1/12th scale 57 chevy. It was fun to make that stuff work...lol. Keep us up on the progress, i will be looking for it.

Most kits are like that. They may have looked at one or two funnycar pics and based their instructions on that alone. I say go with what you have found in the reference pics and get after it.

Well it took me a few days but I finally got most of the misaligned tubing, mold lines and sink holes all fixed plus I got two broken pieces glued back on. Still have 2 more pieces to glue on but I have to wait until I put the two chassis halves together so I can get them lined up properly. Here's a pic of the chassis halves with the broken pieces circled in red. I still can't believe how bad a shape this kit is in being that it was still factory sealed.
