Taking this old box stock yawner, Thom Taylor 34, from the box it had been condemned to for the last 10 years, and see if i can turn it into a better hot rod.

This will be cool. I built that kit once and I would build another one. I know you really want to post it on TRaK.....do you have any wheels? PM me if you want, maybe I can help with wheels so you can.

Thanks, Bob. Yeah, I miss posting on TRaK and will probably have something for there in the future, But I'm not about to let their rules dictate how I build my models. (no offense) And, also, I have no idea what vintage this engine is other than a Ford. I like these wheels, and have already modified the front ones to fit a pair of my ratty resin tires. Some more progress. Here's the radiator slid down between the frame rails. Grill mounting tabs on the sides and the tongue at the bottom will hold the grill shell at a rakish angle. The rear needed to be kicked up a tad, so I added to the rear of the frame. Have locating pins in the rear of the body. Added a couple of Ticky Train NBW's for some detail.

Clay, I'm liking that stance, will this be fenderless.
These Monogram `34s have a GM motor in them. The Early Iron series advertised them as Pontiacs and had a 6 carby induction. When the tooling was modified to the Tom Taylor roadster / ZZ Top coupe the engine was listed as a Chev. The only difference I could see was the rocker covers, inducton & accessory drive. What they had before the Early Iron series I don't know, as I have never seen anything earlier. I'm assuming the tooling goes back to the `60s, but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. That way I can learn what I don't know.
I still have the Roadster up & down top & cowl from the one I built in the `70s, might have the 6 carb set up too.

I want the headers to be outboard of the frame, so I had to add on (top foto). Bottom foto show the finished reworked headers, and the redone headlights. I don't know what I had used for glue back then, but it turned orange. Fortunatly it was pliable and easy to remove. Headlights are set up to mount on pins on the shock towers.

This rebuild is moving right along. I have fabricated some side pipes from soda straw material. Other than exhaust routing, these pipes have an ulterior purpose, That is to pull up alongside tuners with their popping little fart cans, and let them know," Wow, they could have had a V8."! ;D

Nice job on the Headers Clay, and the straw side pipes are a neat idea. Might have too plagiarize that idea for my Cobra
