this is a "quicky"....just painting to match the plastic it was molded in back in the day....gonna put it on the shelf to enjoy that car....i have always liked it and never could get ahold of an original. Fletch hooked me up with a kit to use , it was molded in yellow. I won't bore you to death with pics like this.....but I am getting it all painted tonight! I do need some wheels, so I am gonna be short those at least for now. (front wheels that is)

the color is not right in the photos, so I will take some outdoor pics when its done. I am gonna polish it out a bit and yes the rear wheels will be washed and the best I can do on the rims.... starting to look like a Beetle! (hard to believe that used to be brown/tan and yellow plastic)

Look what I found in one of the junk boxes I bought from Steve Kohler! I didn't know it, but there are extra parts from the Boss A' Bone kit which is actually a later issue of the Blue Beetle and just about as hard to find. This is just glue bomb junk, the rest of the truck is gone. It just HAPPENS to have the fricken' firewall and the correct seats!

The original had a Cadillac engine...the new one might have one, but it's got some fugly valve covers and they don't say "Cadillac" on them like they should. I snagged a set that are not exactly like the originals, but at least they say CADILLAC on them. They came out of the AMT '59 El Camino kit. The sucky part is the valve covers are molded with the heads. I had to cut them off and put the new ones on.

did the best I could with what I have on the engine. intake is not exact, but it's close to the right one. kinda worried about the firewall fitting behind that magnito...might do some minor adjusting to get it together. it's getting closer..the truck is 3/4 of the way....the scuba and surf stuff will be the last 1/4.

and here is how the spinners look. I had to shave the front rims down by putting them on the dremel and had to shave out the inside of the front tires and the whitewall inserts. the rims are really close, but needed some modifying.
