Luv them Jim Hall creations! I'm surprise it's all white. I remember some with side rocker panel area a dark red. I had the 1960s kit by IMC Iindustro-motive Corp), then a TWO DOLLAR kit. Delicate, but a wonderful model. Yours is fabulous as well. Any close-ups of interior, suspension, etc? How pricey is this one?

No chassis or interior detail to speak of on this very simple curbside kit. Best I can tell it was originally a battery powered motorized toy. The 2A has a fiberglass tub with the brownish color lower panels. The 2C and later versions had an aluminum tub hence the white painted panels. 2A 2C

Don't remember if I've ever seen one of these completed, but yours is looking really good. Does the kit have an engine or is it just the injector stacks and headers? Anyway, really nice and clean work making it come together. Everything seems to fit really nicely on place and nice work with the paint and decals, too.

Beautiful build sir, quite impressive.
I too loved the creations of Jim Hall and Hap Sharp. I worked for BTA Oil Producers in Midland, Texas many moons ago. BTA was a sponsor on the Chaparral sports cars and also on their CART cars. We got to go out to Rattlesnake Raceway and watch the Chaparrals being tuned and tested. Great times with great people. One entire wing of the Petroleum Museum in Midland is dedicated to showing many of the Chaparrals.
I have to agree that you very seldom see a Chaparral model finished. Yours sir, is spectacular.
Thanks for the memories.
John

Next up will be a build of an old AMT 2A kit I have. Then, after that maybe I'll have the skill and "courage" to attempt my original IMC 2E kit. LOL.

Wasn't that body originally in a Cox slot car kit? Seems to me I remember it being so.
I built the Monogram hardtop style car, that's a really nice kit that responds well to a little extra care and detailing.

Beautiful build sir, quite impressive. I worked for BTA from 1978 to 1983. You are right, it was a wonderful time to see what was going on out there.

The origins of the Arii kit I used was here Here's the Cox version. You can see the body detail differences between the two. I agree the Monogram 2D kit is nice and definitely on my "to do" list.
Looks like Cox used this one for their slot car version

To me, race cars was never cooler than in the 60s, this is no exception and is a nice model built from what I guess is a rater crude kit to start with?
