This is the Revell kit version. Other than the twisted, buckled floor, front and rear windows buckled, and side windows too long and too high and oh yes trying to fit the body over the interior, was nigh on impossible. I had to shave down the door panels, take off the dash and shave off the mounting to the floor and about a 1/4" round the top of the dash as it touched the body without the windows in! With the engine surround there is a window panel at the back of the seats, this was also far too high and wide so shaved that down too! And a few other problems, too many to count! Anyway here's the finished article......................... The bikes, roof bars and top box come from a Fujimi kit. The decals are a Dot Camo from Scale Motorsport. The rear bike rack is scratch built.

I really dig the graphics scheme. Along with the white paint, it really highlights the modernism of this design. Too bad it was such an S.O.B. to put together. But you persevered and the results is truly fine indeed.

Thanks Bernard. Yes it was one of the worst kits I'd ever come across, and this is borne out of a comment I've just got on another site that his was just as bad and he hasn't finished it! When I opened the box and saw that it was moulded in shiny grey, I had to paint it although not really liking white (I always make a pigs ear of it"!). Having researched on Google and seen all manner of R8's from race cars, concepts, Liberty Walk etc. I used matt white then added the decals and two coats of clear gloss, and it seemed to turn out better than I thought, but the rear valance was separate and yes you've guessed that didn't fit well either! And the rear clear light lenses were too deep, I took off about a third to fit into the space but then the right hand one was too short! So I found a piece of plastic sheet packaging and cut out a new one and painted it the same as the left side with clear red!

Wow nice job Pat!. You'd never know you had the struggles you describe but the end result is worth it!

Thanks Ron S. Yes a shave here and a bit of plasticard and filler there and it's all OK!
