Got this idea to hook two flatheads together, fab up some kind of naturally aspirated system, using 3 carbs and stock oil bath air cleaners, then enclose it all in some stock 30s sheet metal and some custom fitted. Will have to build a custom trailer to get it to Bonneville 🤔😋 Used a lot of parts from the 28 Lincoln, wheels and skinny tires up front. Rear wheels and tires are from a 1/32 scale diecast Kenworth logging truck, with full moon discs made from pressed metal clothing button form, filed down to fit. Nose piece is two fenders, (40s car or 1950s pickup?- can't remember) glued together on the flat, then slots cut through with flat file. Driver needed a periscope to see, so that needed some streamlining too. John

Very imaginative. I like it. I don't quite understand the air cleaner locations but that's okay. Nice work.

Thanks, I will have to see if I can find some of the pictures I took of it with the body off. Basically, just piping from both engine intake manifolds joining them together, with the carbs located at the center.

Thanks Bob, Ron. I take my cue from our gearhhead predecessors, who seem to have said, "Hey, what if we.....?" a lot, and then did it.

Hey most excellent, I love that paint look too. Very creative and I await the pics without body on.

Here are the only pictures I have of the twin flathead setup, without the body. Very early on, after fabricating the idea of joining the two, and working out a cooling system piping layout, I decided not to do any more detailing, but simply concentrate on the body and access panels fabricating. As such, I didn't take anymore pictures. The air cleaners/carbs are attached to the log manifold, which in the lower picture, is balanced on top of the intake piping. Once the body is in place, that air cleaners/carb/log unit slides into place, locking the body down. John

This thing is nuts, I love it! The creative use of cobbled-together classic luxury car parts is a sight to behold. The aggressive grille is fantastic...I thought maybe it was an AMT Double Dragster part at first, with slots cut into it. When I spotted the large-diameter MPC front tires, my immediate thought was "well, what the heck are the rear tires from, then??" Of course they'd have to be truck tires. Wow! The bellcrank in the drag link is a cool detail, and the induction/driveline is crazy but I wouldn't doubt that someone probably tried it for real, somewhere! I enjoy "what if" builds like this immensely

This thing is nuts, I love it! ............The bellcrank in the drag link is a cool detail, and the induction/driveline is crazy but I wouldn't doubt that someone probably tried it for real, somewhere! I enjoy "what if" builds like this immensely Thanks Spex😊 I too, enjoy the "what ifs", which, from the many too cool reference pictures, obviously were tried many times, in the quest for the land speed record. I seem to have made it my quest to build, at least some of, the kind of "What were you thinking?" What Ifs? Like the Sunbeam Natilus here.... This picture was the first I saw of it, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for the dude.... "Seriously? You think if you make it look like a rocket, it will go like a rocket?" 😄 But apparently, yes, in the early days, when ideas like aerodynamics, etc, were just beginning to be thought of and developed, there were all kinds of crazy notions. One common belief was that the human body could not survive speeds faster than a horse could run 😲 This is the "complete" land speed record attempt form of the above car pictured. It suffered from overheating..... Duh, yeah..... that little hole in the nose won't let much air get through.... 🙄 But, instead of removing or modifying THAT, they removed the back half of the streamlined body, as seen in the top photo. Even one of the later Sunbeams here were a bit- according to what we know now- "questionable?". All part of the wonderful development of our beloved fast cars. I find ALL of those succsesses, and failures very interesting, and worthy of modeling. [Ok, yeah, worth a good laugh as well 😄] John
