Saw the '57 Ford (Top Hat) Gasser, so, I had to build one!

My favorite "resource info" mag is Hemming's Muscle Machine. In the Jan 2017 issue they have the "Top Hat" Gasser cloned after a poplar racer from 1970. I just built the Ranchero, now I gathered up parts to build it. It is painted with Testors Black Metallic.

 

I used the engine from the Revell '64 Ford Thunderbolt drag car. I reshaped the headers to point downward.

As for the interior, I used buckets from the AMT '66 Nova. The rear cover and package shelf is from the Revell '57 Ford Stock Car.

I didn't attempt to radius the rear wheel openings like the real car.

Very cool work!!!! Similar in looks to the old AMT '56 Ford. Looks good in black, but my heart is still with the ranchero pictured along side. Thanx!

57 Gassers are big where I live. I think one guy has about 3 or 4 of them.
