They say you can’t go back again. However, that’s not entirely true when it comes to modelling! There’s always a chance to take another run at a kit that you might have botched up in your younger years. For me, such a kit is, of course, a loser car! In this case, it’s the MPC 1982 Cavalier! Sure, you’re thinking that the Cavalier may not be worth re-doing, right? Well, as a car, you might not be wrong on that, but it’s a neat kit of a very important car. The Cavalier nameplate solidered on for a long time, and it’s one of those cars that literally seemed to be everywhere back in the day. Check out my take on this “New for ‘82” Chevy and tell me what you think. If it makes you remember how bad things got, then I’ve done my job! adamrehorn.wordpress.com/model-kits/cars/125-mpc-1982-cavalier/

There's always been any number of ways to consider personal transportation. Many were happy with "basic" or couldn't afford more, cars like the Cavalier were just the thing! Thanx for a trip back to reality. For those interested in more than that there was a kit of a wild Pontiac Sunbird, it's sister car. With huge chromed blown (and turbo-ed?) engine, it could pass anything but a pollution test!

Man, that Sunbird kit is awesome. I'd prefer it stock, though. What scale is it? combining it with the Cavalier could be a way to get a close-to-stock Sunbird, maybe!

Sorry, the model I was thinking of is the Pontiac J-2000. Here's a link to a You Tube review www.youtube.com/watch?v=vlepf9mM6zc. There also was a model of a "ground effects" Sunfire model as well, but I can't seem to find it in Google images today. I bought one of these J-2000 kits after hearing of a NASCAR experiment trying small cars. I wanted a NASCAR J-2000!

Clean build and a subject you don't often see! They can look cool and be sporty when they're a little "modified"

This was GM's version of Sporty Driving . Enough said . This is a replica of those I loaded and delivered at Lordstown . Looks like the real thing , only smaller . What Tires did you use ? I built one in the day with the lit tires . I'll post it soon . I'll pass on the keys thanks ..

Thanks for the compliments, guys!
The tires I used are those in the kit. They stick out a bit far because they were scaled for the IMSA flared version, or "custom" version as they called it. It was a shame; even with filing that's as far as I can tuck them in.
It cost me first place at a model show. In fact, afterwards, they told me that the tires prevented it from placing at all, but it was otherwise well enough done to get first. Huh... Oh well... I still like it! Not my fault MPC can't make tires!
