If it’s one kind of vehicle I really miss seeing around, it’s the old ‘70s street vans! I remember when those things with murals, and crazy interiors, were everywhere! I have a real soft spot for their creativity and outlandishness! That’s why I love to build street van kits, although I don’t have many of them. I have to say I was disappointed by the “Vantasy” kit from a while ago, since half the fun is the interior, and it doesn’t have one! Thankfully, the reissue MPC HighJacker does have one, and man, does it ever scream out its age! I managed to snag one of these recently at my LHS. There was NO WAY I was going to turn it down, and when I got it home, I was pretty excited by what I found. Check out my review of this long-lost and long overdue model. Just make sure you extinguish all smoking materials, please. Oh wait, never mind… adamrehorn.wordpress.com/model-kits/out-of-box-reviews/round-2-mpc-120-highjacker-oob/

Thanks for the info and pics on that kit! I saw it yesterday at a local Model Car Contest and it looked really tempting until I saw that it's unfortunately 1/20 scale. As a Chevy Van owner I'd be very happy to have one of those on my bench, but that scale kind of scares me out. The kit looks really good though.
Do you (or anyone else) know if there ever was this body style Econoline made in 1/24 or 1/25 scale?

If you're a Chevy van guy, then the Vantasy kit from a few years ago would be pefect for you; it's a Chevy, and is 1/25, I believe. It's a long-box van, too. Sadly, there's no interior, but that doesn't mean you can't scratch one! I have a few 1/20, and yeah, they're big, but this thing just looks TOO fun not to give a shot. If you see one cheap in a year or so, or at a show, try it anyways! I'm sure it will be a challenge, too, but fun all the same! I don't know of a smaller scale Econoline of this type, though. What about promos? Are there any of those? They're always a good place to start for kitting!

Yep those AMT Vans have very simple interiors, unfortunately. I have AMT Aqua Rod kit and that Van is really nice even though the interior could be better. I believe that is pretty much the same as those newly reissued AMT Chevy Vans but I could be wrong. When I start building a replica of my 1:1 car ('87 Chevy Van G20) I will have to scratchbuild an interior there. Luckily my interior in that 1:1 ride is really simple so it should be easy to scratchbuild.
I thought about that same thing - when I find one of these cheap I will probably buy it because it looks like a fun kit. And I checked Google and eBay but could not find a Promo Model of one of these. So maybe this might be the only way to have an Econoline like this on my shelf.

www.motorcityresincasters.com/74E100Van.htmMotor City Resins does the 74 E100 van in 1/25 I picked up the HighJacker and love the kit. The only thing I noticed was the tires and wheels looked a little small. Almost like the ones from the MPC 1/25 scale kits, but not a big deal as I am not using them anyway
