When I built mine I made that brand x motor look like a Ford,I might find another to use one of the SBFs I got since I built the ranchero.

Nice looking little Ranchero Johnny ! That motor looks like a little 221 or 260 with Cobra valve covers added . It was introduced in 1962 but works just fine in the '61 Ranchero .

Darn cute. The lines of it are simple and I like the size a bit smaller than the El Camino. The original engine, a 6, was pretty weak and quite cheaply done. This brings up the power and quality. Thanx!

Looks good in black over red. I like the 66 7 Litre wheels.

Ron, I could not find quite the wheels I liked and while digging through a parts box found an old glue bomb 66 T-Bird that had those wheels used on it. They were in good shape so I detailed them and tried them on the little cruck and it seemed to be just right for it!

Excellent Build . I am grateful to see a SBF . Even if it was a cheap imitation . The Ranchero was a new Vehicle in the US Market for the '57 MY . The El Camino was the '59 MY . The El Camino disappeared in '61 MY . Three MY's for Ford the innovator . Two for Brand X . Then the '60's . Ranchero moved to the Falcon Platform . El Camino lost until the '65 MY . The Chevelle platform wasn't around until '64 MY . Brand X , the Corvair . remember these GM followers ? Then the Ford / Dodge Vans in 1961 , I don't recall which MY of the first Van form Dodge . Brand X ; 1967 . Anemic and Cheap is what the best description of the Ranchero . Go drive a Chevy Van of the '69-'69 until they disapeared again . The same Standard Mill in the El Camino . Drive a Corvan . The El Camino did offer a V/8 after a while as well as the Johnny Come lately Chevy II . The debate goes on and on .. Most excellent model ... Thanx ..

Don't forget the 67-69 Fairlane based Ranchero that could be had in GT trim.

I owned a 1:1 67 with a 390 4speed. Someone had even added the 6 barrel intake and carbs to her. Unfortunately it was rusted so bad that I ended up parting out what was salvageable.
