Been meaning to start this build for awhile. It will be based on this Hot Rod Photo, using the Galaxie kit.

Whoa! Can't wait. The last time you did a fat-fendered gasser it was spectacular! I love that front axle setup. It's key, along with the yellow paint, to the look. Any thoughts on how to model it?

Thanks B. Yes, started removing the front splash plate with the back of a knife blade.
Then, cut off the lower turns.
Next will be the radiator shroud and the the front suspension yoke.

Here she is with the shroud off.
Using the CMK saw, carefully removed the front suspension.
As you can see, my torch man did pretty good, but will have to come back with some filler, because this area is so highly visible.

Made more progress. May go with the Ross Gibson Cross Ram Hemi engine if I can't find a Chevy 327 with cross ram. Robbed some parts from the suspension on the 55 Chevy Street Machine kit. Dropped in a Ford 9" rear end, sanded the slicks. Still waiting for the Halibrands.

Same here on the cheerful yellow paint! Looks interesting and I'll be looking for that Galaxie kit at the next model convention! I sure would be careful driving that machine with the swiss-cheesed front axle, no big wheelies! Thanx!

Sharp frame surgery. This build is coming along nicely. That old 55 kit is still a great parts source.

Thanks guys. Painted the fire wall satin black, masked off and primered, used embossing powder on the front fender inner wheel wells to simulate under coating.
The body is in the de-hydrator gassing out, after about four coats of Tamiya Camel Yellow.

The original had a Chevy 265, so robbed one out of the 55 Nomad Wagon kit and the M/T dual ram intake out of the 62 Bel Air kit.
The car now has a roll and pleated interior, so ordered some Evergreen half round styrene.
After letting the 4 coats of Camel Yellow gas out in the dehydrator, this is how it looks so far.
Ed's Halibrands have been painted magnesium with aluminum outer ring.

Front fenders are looong! Looks good, but undercoating idea I'd pass on as it looks a bit too coarse for the scale. Mag paint on wheels is great. Can't wait to see how you do the tuck 'n' roll insides!

Yeh the 46 - 48s had some loooooong fenders. The ZING embossing powder will look better, when they get painted flat black. Next time, might try Mr. Surfacer 500 instead.
