It was a year ago today that we lost Ron. I had noticed that I just don't post here enough, so on this day I wanted to make a point of posting something. I went back 50 pages and it looked like I hadn't posted this here before. Even though Ron liked and built everything, he was a Ford Guy. This was one of his favorites of mine, it's not quite a Ford, but Ford family. It started with a customer at a hobby shop saying it was impossible to do a cool custom paint job without an airbrush. Of course we know that is not true, by some of the stuff you guys have posted. So I took it as a personal challenge and did this all by hand. I was gonna clear coat it but in real it has sort of a hand tooled leather look. Many of you here have seen it before (some maybe many times, LOL) Etched headlights, the tube in the grill is for the antenna that goes through the body then out the trunk lid. The taillights are cut out, then filled with clear epoxy painted red. Etched glass back window. Here you can see the antenna sticking up. It will pull out about 6 inches, then can be pushed in flush, then sticks out of the tube in the ft, so it can be pushed out again. Etched glass with a needle. Before I attempted it on the car, I did this practice sheet first. We miss you Ron. Thanks Jim

This is really awesome Jim and one of my favorites ! I know the repetitive pattern makes it easier but I still can't imagine ever being able to do anything like this . And the etched glass is a great tip , I forgot about that one . Hard to believe it's been a year already , I was just looking thru his builds yesterday and reminiscing . Ron my friend , you are greatly missed .

Hang on a minute - I'm confused. Did you really hand paint all those flames? It looks stunning.

Hang on a minute - I'm confused. Did you really hand paint all those flames? It looks stunning. Thanks Spike, Yeah they are all hand painted. First draw the flame on in pencil, then trace over that in black, then add the color in. Instead of trying to pinstripe the flame after, the way it's done in 1:1 I did about 5 rows a night, took about a week. I will post a motorcycle in a couple days that I did pretty much the same thing. Jim
