Update on the louvers, they went on without difficulty although one did tear apart in a couple of places. I think that was because I had let it soak on a towel for a good five minutes and it just became delicate. Overall they were a cool breeze, slid right on and allowed quite a bit of movement without blowing up so it was easy to place them straight and more or less evenly spaced. Now lets see what a light coat of primer does to them. It has to be remembered that these actually look quite like they are real 1/25 or 1/24 scale in height, in other words, they are pretty low profile and will get lost under too much paint. I am currently rethinking my color (brand, actually) choice and thinking about sticking with reliable Tamiya product instead of taking a chance on hardware store paint. Just cannot see the color I need quite yet. The louvers do look pretty nice, though. jb

Nice work jb, looks like they were part of the hood.

Well here we are, 3 months later, and I have finally gotten near the end of this disaster. Less said about the paint, the better, its a long story. Gonna be a shelf sitter. There is a kart in there! Have to affix the tires/wheels and do a little tweaking on the hood fit but gonna call this one done real soon. Built the two engines with the kit but this one remains unfinished; going to glue the hood down anyhow, due to the lack of inner wheel wells amongst other reasons. jb

Looks great to me. Something based on Jimmy Flintstone is bound to have major issues. You did great.

Sorry it took me so long to get back, but thanks for the comments guys, and Dave, I wish I could blame the problems on Jimmy Flintstones' products but really this one, aside from being a little thick, was surprisingly well fitting for the most part. Most of the problems I got no one to blame but myself! But you know we all learn something every day! I still grimace when I see this build on the shelf though.
