This is a rebuild from about 30 years ago. Originally, it was white, and I called it the "Snowbird." I decided to go through it and make it more unique. Since I have the same last name (no relation though) to Robert Bigelow's Aerospace corporation, I decided to go that route. I think it's a Revell kit in 1/48th scale.
The cockpit decals were done by taking a picture of the parts and putting in colored dots and stuff in Photoshop. There is absolutely no accuracy in this model, but I don't care. I'm thinking about putting in LEDs in the engine to bring out the orange glow, but I haven't figured out how yet. Missiles are used to gauge um, um,...SOMETHING!

I think you nailed it. I like your idea to add LEDs for engine outlet glow. Paul

Fine job on this bird. Makes me want to drag my (self disassembling apparently) SR-71 down off the top shelf in the garage where it's been sitting for years. Gary

I'm in the process of lighting around the edge of the stand I built for it. This set of lights is just too bright! It does look way brighter in the picture, but it's bright enough to light a room. Really sucks as they were the perfect length, 5'. I have another set of the regular LEDs coming in.

^^^I wouldn't even know how to do that. Wiring ANYTHING has never been a strong point of mine.
