I like this kit, however, the chrome was damaged in several areas. Not from a previous owner (kit was open, but unbuilt.) Most of the problem came from the factory. Areas that looked like someone laid a soldering iron or something on them. On top of that, it was flaking off. Everything fit well. I didn't like that they didn't give you the option to customize it.
I don't know why I built it like this. I was thinking that I had never seen an Olds with this type of hood scoop. The real car is a Cutlass with a big block Chevy motor. I didn't want to go that far, just wanted it to look like the real thing. I also did a set of front wheels like he has (with a FORD dog dish, ) but, I also made the complete set of WELD wheels as well.
As you can see, the color changes with the lighting.
I found the tie rod on my bench after I cleaned everything up, but I put it on yesterday.

Nailed it! Nice job recreating the 1:1. Not sure about that scoop on that car but to each his own I guess.

That's kind of what I thought when I first met him, but it grew on me enough that I didn't HATE it at least.

Sure is. He's got this car, a Thunderbolt replica and something else. I think a 70s Chevy Monza that he races as well. Winter Texan from Iowa. I like it! Nice replica. The scoop functional on the real car? Paul

Thanks! reason I asked was a guy in the next lane at the Ohio Gasser meet had a slot scoop on his Nova, nicely done and I expected a hi po induction on it. It was a non functional scoop with a SBC and Q Jet.
