So, what did you get today in the diecast realm? This looks like a good thread topic so I will start one by asking it!
I just got in a bunch of stuff here recently. One good thing about Hot Wheels etc is that they are relatively cheap, so your twenty dollars or so can go a long way, depending on what catches your eye. This bunch, for instance, ran less than twenty, including postage (which was free). So its not like I really sold the farm or anything, a very modest output for a worthwhile return.
The source was of course, ebay, which I have to say, after looking here at some posts, next thing I know I am over @ the bay, searching through the cheap consumer stuff, and pretty soon, I got a cart full of stuff!
So lets take a look, again, scuse the poor flash photos, I am trying my best to hold the camera steady! Here is an overall look including one un-diecast item.
Left to right, one column at a time, two Land Rovers and a kool Nova station wagon all in tie die colors! Second column, three Datsuns, top one is a rally version from Matchbox, other two are a race station wagon and a sedan from Hot Wheels. At top center is a stack of hot rod hobby cards from about early 70s. I like picking that kind of vintage stuff up if its cheap, and I think I paid like six bucks shipped for these, maybe a bit more. Heres the thing though, these are British hot rods, all of them. Some really strange stuff in there, I have done a few models in that loose kind of style, but no one really takes them seriously. Here, though, is the proof of what I remember from English hot rod magazines of my youth. So they are kinda kool. Third column are 3 Kafer race car Volkswagens, don't know if these are fantasy or what (I assume they are), but they were pretty neat and the three together were like six bucks. Final column on top is a Bizarre (company) resin 1/43 Rover/BRM Lemans test car of 1963 and beneath that is a VW Caddy (known here as a Rabbit pickup).
Lets take a closer look:
This was not included in the 20$, but it was too reasonable to pass up for a very obscure, interesting Lemans car:
So show us what you got today (or anyday for that matter)!
