Does anybody know where I can find any videos or posts that help with doing name plates or chrome emblems on model cars? I searched with google, but couldn't find any YouTube videos. I really want to start doing some factory stock model car builds, but have been holding off because I can't seem to get the results I want.

Hey JD, I would suggest searching "model car chrome emblem foiling script technique" or something like that. You will find many videos and help with that. Here's just one example... www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZduSU6L9kM

Might also might want to check into Molotow chrome pens. They are remarkable. I think there are u tube videos out there but I would suggest just getting a couple (1mm and 2mm tips) and trying them for yourself. These chrome rims, strictly Molotow on bare plastic: Probably doesn't replace Bare Metal Foil, but is a lot easier to use sometimes and works really well to touch up BMF, kind of ironic. jb

First of all, thanks FordRodnkustom because I did more than a few web searches and came up with zip; but that link you shot me did the trick and I got some good information - much appreciated, hopefully I can return the favor sometime. As for the Moltow JB, yea they are pretty awesome I have already used them but it was a good tip anyway. Speaking of the Moltow pens, one of the guys in the "Bricks and Mortar" model car club that I belong to opened one of them up and touched up a wheel with a small brush and it worked fantastic! It seems that the paint in the Moltow pens tends to level out really nicely and you can brush it on chrome with fairly good results. In some cases brushing it works even better than using the pen. One last thing, I think your better off getting a refill then then unscrewing the tip on the pen because you may risk contaminating the Moltow paint and get more of silver effect rather than a chrome. Thanks again, both you!
Oh, by the way I like that grey and silver thing you got going on with your build JB!

Do you have experience with Bare Metal Foil? I've seen a really good trick where the builder applied the BMF to the script BEFORE their color coats of paint. These lightly sanding or touching the script with a little lacquer thinner to reveal the chromed script.
With regards to painting Molotow, you don't have to open the pen to retrieve the ink. Get a piece of paper or plastic, and lightly push the tip on it several times(like when you initially active the marker) to get a little pool of the ink to form. Then grab your brush and paint away
If you have any more questions, ask away

Thanks for the info. I am going to do some experimenting with an old kit.
