Quite welcome. I haven't seen either one in a while either. I think those kits are somewhat rare these days.

Got any good reference sites or magazines i can use? Anybody you know wants to paint that Mako shark for me as I'm not brave enough to try that one.

It will take an air brush.

Cor-rect on both models. Looks like you'll be in for a challenge just trying to get them restored. Re-doing a model is often considerably harder than starting from scratch. On painting the Mako, it CAN be done with rattle cans. I'd do it in either a dark blue or indigo. After thoroughly dry, mask off all the blue areas down to where the fade to white begins. Carefully spray the white, aiming so most goes below the model, with just a bit on the lower portion. It can be done, though with cans, the spray pattern (wide or narrow) varies with brands. As to references, with the names of the cars, I bet there's a good deal on the web, and that's free. The better one is with searches and finding links, the more there is. Good luck on worth while projects.

Very good advice gentlemen. While i like many of you have piles of kits begging for time i found these guys at an estate sale and had to grab them. A challenge yes but due to the rarity these might be worth even having re-plating be an option. I have just never seen these kits before.

Replating is always a possibility, but some folks have found the "ALL CLAD" (spelling?) line of chrome-like paint amazing. It's pricey and needs serious ventilation as well as wearing a mask, but results are as good as promised. There's a lot online and on You Tube about it and how to apply it. Dr.Cranky may have something on his site too. Good luck! Funny you brought these models up, I still have a few of the Mako parts in one of my "spare parts" boxes. I remember the unusual air cleaner shape, and I think it was chrome too!
