Thanks Marc. Way more fun than assembling a kit. A meager update. Besides filling a lot of holes and slots in the large RC jeep 'tank', I figured I needed a grill that was a bit more massive and industrial looking than anything I have in the salvage yard. So, scratch time again.

I like the way taken by this project! May be you can add a ensign on the top of your grille. Good continuation.

I've modified the grill shell a bit, Flip, by putting a bead on it. Working on an inner door panel for the opening drivers door. Not too happy with this first one. looks too hokey. OK, so I thumbed thru a couple of old HR mags looking for a glimpse of a bare Nekkid inner door panel. Sensed that was going nowhere fast. So back to imagineering, and try to make a more realistic looking panel, still throwing anal authenticity out the window. Taking Zebuckster's observation to heart, I leaned the mechanism up some also. This'll be a go. I'll be putting the first panel on the right side door that will not open. It's crappy and won't match, but in the dim, dark reaches of the interior, imagine the joy of some nitpicking, rivit counter when they discover it !!

That door looks great now! Only thing is now that you have told the world that the doors don't match, we can "ALL" nitpick BTW, you need to put a little bit of dirty grease on the mechanics so it looks real.

Getting in a little more progress. >:(Gaps between the dualie tires were way off, so I pulled them apart, and for probably the first time ever, I thought " Why do I fool with stuff that's so completely f.. buggered up"? If this were a 'nice' model, they would have to be thrown away !! Anyway, I'm working on filling all the space that the channel job leaves. The floorboard is styrene but the sides and lower pan is made from leftover business cards soaked with super glue. Now that the cardstock is nice and stiff, I'll cut the part out that's between the frame rails so the drive shaft and floorboard bottom can be seen. Not that I ever detail the underside much. And with the cab in place.

Never thought of using business cards before, I will have to give that a try on one of my stalled projects soon.

Marc, I make almost all of my test templates from the business cards and I use them often for floorboards on my channeled models.

There was 1/2 of this tank on each side of an old ElCheapo Radio Control Jeep. I spliced them together.
