Bench is clear, so I felt free to start in on the 40 Ford I just bought from syko. I wanted to use another one of those bad boy Cammers that was in the 33 Willys. I went to Neals pawn shop down in Homosassa. He has a lot of leftover kits from when he was dealing and building in car models. He didn't have one. But he did have a concept Mustang III kit for $11 that had a Ford 4.6 32 valve engine in it. I used one of my own blowers to replace the weenie one that was in the kit, and fit one of Ryan Silva's super clean Hollys to it. Have to go with an electric fan on the radiator. Fan blade would hide all of that neat serpentine pulley system Here's the engine. I'm starting to strip the 40's frame of stuff between the frame rails. I'll be tubbing that for a pair of 5K Phats. This will be full fendered and unchopped. Man, how long has it been since I didn't chop something

Wow, you aren't going to chop this one.......well, we will wait and see LOL. That is a pretty nice motor, its also the same one in the Ford Phantom Vickie kit that I built a while back.

I'm setting this engine back a tad. That means I'll have to modify the firewall.

For the new firewall, I made a pattern and then transferred it to a piece of heavy aluminum from a coffee can. A tad rough, but I don't build show cars

Ok, got the rear end, axle width and tire widths all zero'd in, so I know where to go with my rear clip. First, the cross piece. Black half round is part of a marker cap. got this all glued in before severing the rear of the stock frame off. Next, I cut the kickup pieces out of flat styrene. I'll probably be scratchin a pair of shocks. now the point of no return. Roughed in place. From the rear.

I should stop by here more often, didn't realize this where you hid out... Looks pretty cool so far, I had never thought about doing the rear kickup with flat sheet before. Way good idea there, but I have trouble getting clean cuts, what's your tech for cutting/shaping pieces like that?

Thanks, guys. Jeff. I will lay out one of the pieces on the styrene and cut it out very close to the lines. I use that as a template to cut out the 2nd one. Then, I LIGHTLY superglue ( just a small dot in several places) them together. Drill the holes thru both pieces and fine tune the edges with files, sandpaper, etc. It's not hard to slip an #11 xacto blade between them to separate them. 2 mirror images (or 2 the same, if you prefer) .

Got all of the rear end components fit and the front axle mod done. Looking thru my salvage yard, I found 2 braces with eyes on both ends that were the exact length I needed for the shocks. I got immediately lazy and used them in place of shocks. . This sucker will run rigid! Just like my chopper. The 4 link bars are modified pieces of stryene I beam. This bracket on the back end kicks the rear of the body up a little higher than the following stance fotos show. Gotta have as much rake as I can get!
