First, the name. Rodney. Almost everything in this build will come from a box of odds n' ends that was sent to me by Jon F. ( aka: Rockin Rodney Rat) This wierd FI that came in the 41 Woody will set atop a flathead V-8. I'm in the process of reworking one of the frames that Jon gave me. WIP's of that soon.

I managed to get a little done. Modifying one of the frames I got from Jon. I added an arched cross member to the rear kickup. This first scratch built spring was too tall. I have made another since this foto. This being an open wheeled hot rod, I had to do something halfway believable for front backing plates. Parts box gave up a pair of homemade KKKKK wheels for the rims. I cut them down inside and found some plates in the parts box to complete them. Switching back to the engine, I had put on a front distributor plate that looked like it belonged to that engine, and then discovered after I had painted it, it was not set up for the flathead waterpump pulleys ? What's with that ? So, I pried it off and it went shooting across the shop. I'll find it someday. Meanwhile, I was unable to find another flathead front, so back to KKKKK I went, Pulled a mold I made from the 50 PU Ardun flathead, Mixed a small batch of 5 minute epoxy and cast myself one. It'll work ! I set it up to accept one of my precious hoarded R&RoM distributors I have made other progress, but this is the only barely interesting stuff.

Here's the engine with the Ardun heads. I wanted to mount that FI with the filters facing forward, but things didn't work out well that way. Besides, this is the way it shows in the 41 Woody instructions. Those Arduns were cast by my 5K outfit. Overall mockup

I'm getting back to this model after a slight diversion. I wanted to save the cab aside until I could scratch a cowl, using it for reference. New cowl is blocked up so I can continue. (I neeeded a cowl for the next build i want to do)....not a 30 conversion.

Building a roof for the thing. This first frame sets down just inside the body. Next the outer frame, rear and sides. These'll sit right on the cab edge. completed frame. (couple of ends are untrimmed) And now... the chicken wire  BTW, the cinnamon color will not be the outer paint. Bud, Was at the Bike swap several months ago.

Rodney's body took the 'swim' today. My sweet gentle nature spared it from a sudden meeting with the wall. Well, that and I had nothing to take its place )

That is taking an interesting turn. It is looking good. The top insert would be a good "How-To" It looks simple, but it wouldnt hurt??? I'll be looking for the next pics. Virgil
