A couple of years ago, I bought the 41 Plymouth coupe. It just kept looking homlier and homlier and after quite a few months, I finally cannibalized it. Well, several months ago, when I was a little flush, I bought this 39 Chev coupe. It too, looked homley every time I looked in the box. Well, i'll build this one. I had been leaning towards a Bonnyville salt car, hence the Bonnyville chop. But I changed my mind and will go for an off the wall hot rod. Pie cut all the way to the firewall. I got even more radical than this to get the windshield laid back enouigh for the generous chop I'm giving it.

this should be interesting This is why I model. Just assembling a kit is not too interesting to me. I showed the above fotos on Sharks forum and was asked for a tutorial, I had to laugh and tell them that this was strictly trial and error and I had no idea how it would turn out. Experience with previous easier chops helps. This foto looks way better than it actually was at this point. Just a whole lot of bondo work now.

I hear ya. I do assembly and my own work. It just depends on the model. Most of the time I do modify such as shaving, shaping and making my own parts etc.. just depends on the build. now that I have evercoat....the chopped up ones I have will get done!

I like how you laid the windshield down instead of expanding the roof.

I like this 427 that was in the kit. Have more detailing to do yet.

The more I'm getting into this the clearer my direction is getting. I want to get the body down, so it'll be channelled and I'm wishing I had went ahead and z'd the frame. I guess the driver will just have to set on a cushion. I'm not going to get into a interior very deeply. I am going full fendered, skirted in the rear and fenderless in the front. Will have to work out how to modify the radiator and mount the grille and headlights. Work that out when i get to it. Here are the skirts and the source. I have used this method before. (Clear Windex bottles have better plastic than the opaque cleaner type bottles). This method for skirt material give you some contour to work with.

I figured out a way to mount the hood, radiator and grill on the fenderless front.

Bodywork refinements continue. Heres what going on in the rear. Exhaust bezels with Aluminum tubing tips and a half frenched license housing. I raised the bottom trunk line about 1/8 inch. This yellow Revell plastic does'nt seem to want to hold an edge, like its a tad brittle and tends to chip.

pretty much have things all ready for assembly, now. next post may be in the on the shelf section. The grill was kinda hangin, so I made some braces for it lower down. Almost removed some from the bottom end, but thought better of it.
