Cool little build. Nice work on it. Lately I've been getting the urge to build a plane again.....living near an active AFB doesn't help, or maybe it does!

How it looks without the paint: My next step is to cut the quarter vents out of the roof, to be replaced with windows, before I attach the roof to the body. Outstanding! That fast back roof is a natural for it.

Good idea there. I never would have thought of that. Make sure to completely remove any thinner residue before any paint! I certainly will give it a good bath! Got any suggestions, other than soap-and-water? I would soak it in super clean for a few hours then follow up with a scrubbing of warm water and Ivory dish soap. Ivory was recommended by a professional painter that once posted here because it has no additives in it that will cause fish eyes.

Just my 2cents here on the "right look" discussion above.
Suppose a builder just took a later issue RevelloGram T, painted it yellow, added some 'Coffin wheels and tires then called it a Little Rod. To me, that one while most likely a very nice T build just wouldn't have the "right look" as in representing and authentic scaled down Big Rod. Now, another builder sweats all the little details to make sure the build is a close to perfectly scaled down replica, such as Bob did with his outstanding Little Rod and JB has done with his excellent Little Drag, to me, those would have the "right look".
Again just my 2 cents, the way I see it.

Thanks for the replies. NOTHING wrong with a healthy SBC, just not "different" and your so right about the hemi...I have a 55 Nomad set up the same way with a big block with tunnel ram {that needs to be finished}. SO, I'm thinking why not do a STRAIGHT SIX with either six injector stacks or maybe a blower? Results soon.. I hope. Robert If you really want to be different what about a Pontiac or Olds mill? Maybe even a Caddy?

Nicely built. I always liked the almost severe purposefulness of the Essex cars' black and white paint scheme. Is this 1/24th Monogram kit re-issued under the Fujimi name, or is this a Fujimi kit which was later marketed by Monogram under license? I ask because Fujimi has a reputation for particularly well detailed and engineered kits. From the looks of your sanitary and precisely executed example this would be one of those finely detailed kits. I see that this is not a good place to put anything but rods! But as we don't see that many in the UK, I might as well log out for a while! While DPMCC is growing it is still a relatively small group with not that many core active members who comment regularly. This is the downside of relatively intimate forums like this one. But DPMCC's function is to be a general interest car modeling forum, so whether it's your Mehari or a sports racer like this Essex Wire Cobra, these are, and should be, an integral part of the mixture of auto models we all can enjoy. S0me of us build more rods than anything else, but that doesn't diminish our interest in other types of automobiles as well. It's important, however, for us to communicate that interest when the occasion presents itself. I encourage you to stick around and see what happens. Well said Bernard. Agreed 100%.

My first thought was BBC with dual carb tunnel ram but an old school Hemi would be cool too.
