This build was a "dare" from a friend in a club I belonged to several years ago....actually 18 years ago is when I started it, and 2 years later and 2000 pieces, and 2 identical complete chassis. One for the car and one for display. I'd never seen this done before, so I challenged myself to see if I could do it.
First I built the shell of the body, and then began cutting the doors, hood, and trunk lid open. I used real leather for the interior, and the dash and inside top of the door panel trim are made of a rare wood from madagasker called "Thua burl". The car has been finished for 16 years sitting in 2 cases.
Anyway enough talk...here's some pics.

That's freakin' awesome Dave ! I've carved scoops and other small parts from Renshape but never even considered doing an entire body .

Just wondering, how much time do you have in this?

Just wondering, how much time do you have in this? Hi there vintageford I started this about 18 years ago and it took me about 2 1/2 - 3 years to build. I did a build book to take to the GSL contest in Salt Lake City, keeping track of the time and pictures of the progress. The book says I had a bit more than 2000 hours in it. It was crazy, but it was fun too. Thanks for asking. I hope everyone has a great new year. Dave

You, uh, BUILT the body, like out of sheet styrene or something?
To say I am impressed would be a major understatement. To me, this is magic. That's what they call stuff that is so far advanced as to not be explainable: magic. F'n magic in the realm I used to dwell in.
That thing is beautiful and the idea of building a separate chassis with running gear to display alongside of it is genius.
Yep, color me impressed.

Fantastic work making a model out of something that doesn't exist as a model kit or resin or anything else. Very nicely done. Excellent details on the engine bay and chassis finish it off. Even though it's too modernized for my taste, I have to say I really like the craftmanship on this one! Excellent work!
