I got this Mustang as a christmas gift. As much as I love muscle cars IRL, I am not as enthusiastic about building them in small scale, I don't know why, but it feels a bit boring. But why not try building something fun out of this one anyway? Actually, I don't paint black vinyl interiors when they are molded in black. The reason? It feels like nothing can look more like black plastic than black plastic. But I guess that some BMF can live it up at least.

Looks interesting! I've seen folks leaving some parts into bare plastic and I've done it myself too with little parts, but never seen anyone leaving the whole interior unpainted. And actually it looks very good so far. Interesting to see how interior looks when finished.

Probably going to flock the floor though. That's carpet on the real car, not vinyl, so...

I don't remember painting this, but I found it in the box painted. However, there was some "orange peel" surface so I sanded the clear lightly and sprayed two more coats and it turned out better.

Detailed the wheels. Tyres from the parts bin, in front of unknown origin, maybe a bit modern but at least better than the tyres in the kit, I don't like tyres without text. In the rear, I think they are from Little red wagon, and they are better looking than the generic AMT-slicks we all have a bunch of.

Looking good!! Not a huge stang fan, but I do have couple builds, and of course, got stangs all throughout the stash, how they get there is beyond me. But I am liking this one, doing a great job with it, nice choice on the rims as well!!

A quick mockup Interior is taking shape.... It's the first time I try flocking and it wasn't as easy as it looks like, I need some training, but it's good enough for now. Added a rollbar, I don't know if it is a little bit overkill but at least it looks a bit tougher so I can blame the artistical freedom. Started on the engine, far from finished but a good beginning anyway. Painted the chassis since I doubt there was any undercoating on those cars from the start, however, I later started thinking that most realistic would probably have been primer with a slight overspray from the sides, but this is good enough for now, at least I will skip the clearcoat.

Looks great. Nice interior work. You're right about the the chassis color with primer. Red oxide with body color side spray is typical for vintage Mustangs.

Yes. However, not important enough for me to strip the paint from the chassis for.

Some black detailing of the grille I didn't like the chrome gauge cluster so I stripped it and painted it black The steering wheel and gear lever got some paint too I'm quite happy with how the dashboard turned out Almost forgot the side scoops but now they are there. Did some detailing in the engine bay too, not my favourite work but..... I hope the hood and front/rear pans will turn out OK when I repaint it because that's about all that's left now before the final assembly.
