Hi all, well I'm making a start on the Bentley today, first thin I notice that I'm a bit disappointed with is, when looking at the box art the front mud guard has not got much detail at all as you can see I have a load of rivets and nuts to scratch.

Many kits, with fewer parts, weren't made for dedicated modelers. Is this the 1/32 (Airfix) one? Details can be improved if one wants to make the effort. Even in 1/32 they can be improved as shown by determined modelers with the smaller 1/43 scale with very few parts per kit. Good luck, I'll be enjoying seeing how this one goes.

Hi harron68 this is the 1/12 80 quids worth of kit I was expecting better I've had a brilliant idea I have the Airfix 1/12 London icon pack and I'm going to hack the life guard about and have him either getting into or driving the Bentley what better than to have 2 British icons together.

This is going to be interesting for sure even if the subject is something I would pass. But I sure like to see how this comes together. For those rivets and bolt ends, you could use different styrene rods cut to size. I've used them for bolts and they work really well. I can't wait to see your progress with this.

In that scale, this could be a stunning model. Well worth the effort to craft the missing details. Building is most of the pleasure, but having a well built model to enjoy and exhibit, is quite pleasurable also. Do it proud !

Wow, the engine block is Huge! I knew 1/12 scale kit is big, but I didn't believe it's that big. Looking really good so far, keep it up!

It looks similar to a vary old 1/12th scale model of what they called "the blower Bentley". I saw one built up in the early '70s and as said in the big scale it can be awesome. Web fotos can help immensely, something we sure didn't have back in the day! Good luck, have fun!

I checked web for 1/12 Airfix Bentley, and it is indeed quite a kit, if pricey! I remember one from decades ago I saw built up at a model contest. Here's a link to the only big scale old Bentley kit that was here in the U.S., from MPC company. Fotos of both that build-up and fotos of the real car www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/?showtopic=50534. Good luck!

Hi all I am so cross(mostly with myself for not testing it first) I received some humbrol acrylic chrome in a spray can today, and, eager to try it out I did it straight on the bentley engine, it clearly says acrylic on the can, and I primed the engine with humbrol enamel so there should have been no problem, anyway I started spraying and thought this smells very much like celloluse paint. now that is exactly the effect I would expect spaying cellulose on enamel not when spraying acrylic. so now its getting the oven cleaner treatment, so take this as a warning.smell your paint first.

I think humbrol put the wrong paint in the can there is no way a water based acrylic paint should do this to plastic. Now I can believe cellulose doing that.
