This what I have been working on, a 40 Ford pick-up, with a flip front and flat bed. Saw a similar model in Scale Auto Contest cars, and got inspired to build my own version. Not sure what the colour will though. 20140312_234545 by doomcrew, on Flickr 20140312_234556 by doomcrew, on Flickr 20140312_234636 by doomcrew, on Flickr 20140312_234657 by doomcrew, on Flickr 20140608_122338 by doomcrew, on Flickr 20140608_122354 by doomcrew, on Flickr 20140608_122414 by doomcrew, on Flickr 20140608_122452 by doomcrew, on Flickr 20140608_122514 by doomcrew, on Flickr Thanks for looking.

Great looking project ! Excellent job on the bed and the frame underneath , it looks like the bed is removable (?) . The front suspension looks great too , looking forward to more !

Tilt front and rear bed! The work is excellent, no fudging, and as good as if it were the real thing. The superdetailed front suspension is superior too. We'll be waiting to see developments. Hope the rest from interior, to engine and paint go smoothly. Thanx for an inspirational job. I think it was a Monogram (Modern Iron?) '40 Ford I always planned as a stakebed. Good luck on this fine idea!

More progress has been made on the pick-up. Decided that the colour will be base pearl yellow for the body, with that I could paint the chassis, which had a black base and crystal red pearl over the top. I made one of the wheel hubs along with four brake discs, I can now turn the other front hub, and turn the rear ones, but these will have to be a little deeper. Still have to make the coil overs as well as a few more parts on my lathe, but at least I am going in the right direction. The fuel tank was turned on my lathe in four parts. The doors will close with the aid of earth magnets and steel pins. You can see the magnet fixed to the inside of the body, while the pin is fixed to the inside of the door with just the head exposed from the interior door panel. We'll see how she goes! Thanx for the update. Colors sound great. Haven't seen many magnetic doors in AGES. There's an idea that never had it big, but makes sense. I'm guessing it seemed like more extra work that didn't have to be done. With your talent, it should be less effort than for those of us in the "butterfingers brigade!" And I don't mean the candy bar.

Managed to some colour on the body, which is Anti-Venom Pearl Yellow over white. The top half will be sprayed Black with Crystal Red pearl. The bed is made, with real wood veneer. Turned the remaining wheel hubs, ignition coil, dash instruments, two of the pulleys and an oil filter. The black with the crystal red pearl are on, with pinstriping, graphics and the first coats of clear. Next will be a rubbing down and then a few more coats added. The dash will be getting the clocks and switches installed and I will get around to making the brake calipers, eventually. I may also finish off the engine and put it in to the chassis. What a different look on the 2-tone!!!! The pin striping detail really adds the something extra to pull it together. I think I would have liked straight rather than rounded stake-bed boards, but that's just my taste. Aluminum gas tank is a smart and attractive addition! Thanx for the update and great fotos!
