Last summer while I was with my dad at Kalajoki Airport Drag Racing our Stock Eliminator Chevelle (www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCacR4N92Ug), my mom and little sister spent a week in Riccione, Italy. I knew there was a Hobby Shop so I told them to visit there and bring something interesting... Well when they came home with a Revell's Citroen 2CV I knew right away what would I build. My inspiration is this Finnish 1:1 scale Hot Rod Citroen that I saw at Custom Culture Show in Helsinki. I also had Dr.Cranky decals that I got for free when I ordered the International House Of Plastic book where a couple of my models were introduced.
Here are a couple of pics of my inspiration...
Here is what I started with:
Of course the first thing was to get rid of the fenders. With a Photo Etch Saw and Trumpeter Panel Scriber I cut them off pretty easily. The body looked immediately much better.
Front Inner Fenders had holes in them. I can't remember anymore what they were for, but I thought I will not need them. I filled the holes with some mold sprue as it was just the correct size. After some Bondo they were primered, but looks like I forgot to take a picture of them after that Primer process.
My plan is to make it real wheel drive (Of Course!) and after test fitting different engine combos I thought a Four Banger from Revell '29 Ford Pickup was the best idea.
Today I took it back on the bench and test fitted the stance a little. I also cut a hole on the chassis to have room for the engine. Once I get the engine mounts done, I can start building the driveshaft tunnel and make some room for the rear axle too. Tires are just mocked up from Revell '29 Ford. I will use those, but the wheels need more detailing before I can call 'em done.
Engine Bay:
It will be painted with Grey Primer and some Dr. Cranky decals once I get all other work done. Ideas etc are very welcome.
