This is another old e-bay gluebomb rebuild.
I made the taillights and redid the headlights in the "crosshair" style. The wipers are photoetch.
Wheels and some of the engine parts are from an MPC Dodge Omni 0.24. [Same basic engine]
Paint is '71 Plymouth "Curious yellow".

Nice work Steve, Crisp detail. Pardon my ignorance but what is the "cross hair" style for the head lights? Never heard that before.

Very clean build, excellent color choice! Photo etched wipers really look great, where did you get them?

I never knew why I loved small cars like the small VWs, Fords, and Chevys, I just do. Yours is very clean and the P.E. wipers do add to it. The engine itself isn't the best, but all the wiring (electrics and fuel) help a good deal. It's my guess the color name came from a naughty film title from those days. Thanx, and I hadn't heard of the "crosshairs" headlights either, but I see them there.

Thanks everyone.
The wipers are from Detail Master. They have a couple different sets, this is a newer one.
The headlights are a pretty common euro aftermarket add-on.

Sweet build! Seen many 1:1 that looked like that back in the day! Love those little cars, had one with a diesel that would get 50mpg on the road about 30 around town! But watch out if the timing belt broke!(on the diesel) Worked on they at a hole in the wall foreign car repair shop where VW's were our specialty.

The interior views are perfect as I remember these . IIRC , it is an '80's Rabbit moreso than a '70's . 1979 was the first year of Production . I like the Cross Hairs . The "Curious Yellow" is a reference to a Adult Themed film in the day . I remember these well . I was not permitted and prevented from Hauling these as a "Float Load" while I was Driving a Car Hauler . All the Drivers were banned , Domiciled where I was , at the New Stanton , Pennsylvania Factory Early on of production there . We "Framed" these units out . Everything we hauled were Loaded and Transported this way . The Rabbits did not accept that treatment and Buckled . Not good for Public View of a sample of Quality Products . The VW Powered Omni was a good Power Plant . The Chrysler 2.2 was superior . The Puegot was as problematic as not dependable . Quite an great save of a Glue Bomb .

Technically (at least bodywise) this Golf/Rabbit "could be" a 1980 year model. The Golf Mk 1 was produced 1974-83. However in 1981 (and even some late 1980 models) got the bigger, or actually wider, taillights. This kit has the small/narrow taillights . Also, this kit has the small/narrow bumpers which IIRC was replaced by bigger ones in 1978/-79.

Um, John, '74 was the first year of production and first sold in North America in '75.
The kit represents a '78 car, first year for fuel injection on the standard model. I used to own a '77 which used a carburetor.
