You did well with a kit that wasn't that great, considering the large scale. Silver is a real classic M.B. (and German) racing color. Thanx for sharing and the pix!

This is what the most of the 1:1's I saw looked like . Back when these were sold at Studebaker Dealerships across the U.S.A. . German International Silber (Silver) is just right with the red upolstery . The Chassis weathering is perfecdtion IMHO . Thanx ..

Some cars are just meant to be a certain colour, and for the Gullwing, silver with red upholstery is it. It's actually Tester's Model Master German Silver, which has a little more depth, and looks a little more like actual silver car paint than your typical bottle of "Silver". Anyone remember when that, and plated parts were your only options for metallic finishes? Every now and again, I can't help but marvel at all the different ways to reproduce metal that are available to today's modeler. The weathering is just a light dusting of Humbrol Dark Earth with an airbrush. If the brush spits once in a while, so much the better. The exhaust is flat aluminum with a light spray of German cammo red-brown, and a little flat orange in spots. When it comes to weathering, car models seem to be either immaculate, or one step away from the scrap heap, and not a lot in between. I wanted to make something that looked like it had been taken care of, but had still spent some time on the road.

Wow, very nice! Great job on the subtle weathering, I think you more than met your goal. Interior looks right on, too.
